OU partners with 奥克兰 County on 奥克兰80

Goal is to get 80% of county residents to obtain a college degree or professional certificate by 2030. Additional partners for this program include 奥克兰 County Michigan Works!, 奥克兰 Community College, Lawrence Technological 大学, 贝克学院, 奥克兰 Literacy Council and others.

OU partners with 奥克兰 County on 奥克兰80 initiative
OU and OCC alum Jared Barnett was highlighted at the event. He shared his story and shared his enthusiasm for how this new program will help future students reach their academic and career goals.

韦德体育app官网 is among the educational and community organizations partnering with 奥克兰 County on a new initiative to help county residents obtain post-secondary degrees and certifications, and continue to build the region’s talent pipeline.

The 奥克兰80 initiative will connect 奥克兰 County residents to educational and financial resources with the goal of helping 80 percent of residents obtain a post-secondary degree or certification by 2030.

“This program targets 奥克兰 County adults to help them open the door to new or better career opportunities,” 奥克兰 County ​Chief Deputy County Executive Hilarie Chambers explained at the kickoff event. “We identified the resources needed to launch this program and hired people who are uniquely qualified to connect students with the help they need to launch a successful career.”

As part of the initiative, career and education navigators will be embedded throughout 奥克兰 County, including at 韦德体育app官网, to help individuals find paths to meaningful careers, get into and complete college or training programs, and reduce obstacles to education such as the cost of books, 注册费, and childcare options. Their work also includes intensive coaching and ongoing mentorship through graduation and beyond.
